About the Book
The Hope Left Behind is my story of grappling with the loss of both my parents by the age of 30. It’s a story of survival through grief, one that doesn’t shy away from the hard parts—because loss changes you in ways you can never fully predict. But there’s beauty in the growth that follows, and I hope this book gives a voice to those silent thoughts we all have when facing loss.
Through my journey, I’ve come to understand that grief doesn’t have an endpoint. It's a winding road filled with moments of reflection, anger, joy, and, occasionally, laughter. My hope is that readers will find their own story in mine—whether you’re at the beginning, middle, or even years past a loss.
I wanted to capture the reality of grief—the kind that doesn't follow a neat timeline or tie up in a pretty bow. My goal with The Hope Left Behind was to give voice to those deeply personal and, at times, uncomfortable moments that we don’t often talk about. I want to honor my parents by sharing the lessons they taught me, both in life and in death.
I also wanted to create a space where we can acknowledge the heaviness of grief but also see the humor that inevitably sneaks its way in when we least expect it. Because while grief is complex, it’s also full of unexpected light.
